10 Foods You Should Eat Everyday To Feel Great!

Today I want to discuss the 10 foods you should eat everyday. On Monday I received my produce box delivered to my front door. It is always such an exciting day when my box gets delivered! Here’s a photo of it before everyone tore it apart completely.

Look at this chart from Food Revolution Network…I love it!

I love this chart from Food Revolution Network. I have it posted in my kitchen so I can glance at it frequently. It’s something you can download by going here.

Let’s start with the top 5 foods to eat everyday….

My box contained 2 of the top items listed on the chart, leafy dark greens and berries. Some of my favorites to enjoy everyday. I love making salads with greens and cucumbers like here in the photo. The other items on the chart are staples that I usually keep in the house, beans and nuts. All so good for you for many reasons. Greens great to block early cancer from developing. Berries which I like to add to my Vitamix juicer are great for overall health and specifically brain & heart health. Blueberries and strawberries came in my produce box but not pictured. Mushrooms are third on the chart and provide good brain health along with providing anticancer effect against various types of cancer. Next are beans which are great for decreased risk of cancer, heart disease and Alzheimers. Fifth on the list and definitely my favorite top 10 foods you should eat everyday, nuts/seeds a natural anti-inflammatory and great snack for in between meals.

Now let’s discuss 5 more from the chart…I love these!

My box contained 3 of the next 5 listed. First the foundation of alot of meals, onions and garlic which supply anticancer, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory compounds. Second, tomatoes, they are high in the carotenoid lycopene and help protect against cardiovascular disease. I use them in so many of my salads. Third, cabbage and cauliflower which have been found to decrease rates of various types of cancer. I like making cauliflower rice and adding it to any meal. Now lets talk about Turmeric, a beneficial spice known to reduce inflammation and blood glucose levels. It’s become so popular now they make tea with turmeric in it. Speaking of tea! Tea is last on the list of 10 foods you should eat everyday. So rich in antioxidants, tea comes in many flavors and has been linked to improve cognitive function.

10 foods to avoid that are damaging to your health…

These 10 foods are damaging in excessive quantities. Now having some once in a while isn’t going to harm you but it’s definitely recommended avoiding them. They are: sugar/artificial sweeteners, alcohol, fried foods, white flour, processed meats, soda, commercial baked goods, grain fed red meat, dairy, and high salt foods. It is important to limit the intake of these foods. It explains them more in detail on the chart.

  1. I love these foods. I have actually been eating most of these my entire life and can agree that they do offer lots of benefits. I have lots of energy and can keep my weight down just from eating lots of fruits and veges. I think that there is no secret to feeling great, it’s all there and black and white. All you need to do is eat less processed stuff and more of the colorful foods!

  2. Hi!

I love the chart by Food Revolution Network. Basically, the foods they recommend are the ones I eat, but sometimes I do add alcohol to it, and I use brown sugar for my tea. I also like to fry vegetables, today I made fried stuffed peppers. I don’t fry food all the time, though. I think it is bad for you if you do all the time, right? Once in a while should be ok?

Does Sun Basket deliver plant-based meals or does it also include meat?

  3. I’ve been reading your blog post on 10 food that should be eaten every day.  I’m very interested in eating well for my health and losing weight, so this post was right up my alley.  I’ve printed that list of the 10 foods to put on my refrigerator door.  Like you, I love blueberries and strawberries.  And I try to use onions and garlic a lot in my cooking.  I know the garlic is great ofr my husband and his high blood pressure.  I’ve been learning to use tumeric also as your article sates for its anti-inflamatory properties.  I see you recommend tea and I do try to drink tea, lately I’ve been trying a ginger tea.  I need to definitely keep my cognitive functions healthy as I am not so young anymore.  I noticed the list of 10 bad foods and read that also.  I’m trying to avoid those foods.  I’m also checking out the Sunbasket site too and their meal delivery service.  I wasn’t sure but thought that might be the service you are using.  Is it?  Thank you for your article. -Shirley

  4. I love salads as well so there are a number of foods on the top ten that are worth eating if you ask me. I love greens but I tend to skip the cucumbers (but I love pickles…weird I know). Blueberries and strawberries are great with almost anything. Mushrooms are great in so many recipes as well. Many of the items such as greens, beans, seeds, and tomatoes make great additions to a variety of salads.

  6. Like you, I eat as many of these foods as I can to be as healthy as I can. I have found that a nice big helping of salad is actually very filling and after digesting I always feel like I have more energy compared to having fried food or processed food.

I believe if it’s man-made then don’t eat it and that’s the rule I stick to now.

I also try and have a few cups of green tea every day maybe with a small spoon of honey, do you think that’s ok?

  7. Great post! I had no idea how much food can have an effect on your mood. It’s been a little rough (but necessary) staying at home, but this post has helped me realize what foods I should (and shouldn’t) focus on eating.

Thank you for posting the downloadable list of top 10 lists of food to eat and avoid for longevity, it’s now on my fridge too!

I love those foods, and the best part is they are (not only tasty) but beneficial for your health! I feel the need to make an essential trip to the grocery soon. I want to make sure that I eat these foods every day to gain all the health benefits, especially during this time.

As I have more time off than normal, I spend the majority of my time on my business. I don’t really think about food. Those foods are perfect, and easy for me to make.

Thank you so much for sharing such an educational and well-searched post! I know I have personally benefited from reading this post, and I know that others will as well! I look forward to reading more posts of yours!

  9. Once you start eating these foods you’ll immediately feel better and soon, you’ll become addicted to feeling this way. Just like when it comes to exercise, when you improve your nutritional habits you’ll wonder why you didn’t start doing so years ago.

I also like how you included a chart with a list of foods to avoid as well. Many times, these foods will do the opposite of what our superfoods will do and many people who consume such foods also wonder why they feel out of it most of the time. You literally are what you eat and you will feel that way as well.

  10. Hi, I enjoyed reading your article on the 10 foods you should eat every day to feel great.  There’s a lot of helpful information.  I have always tried to eat healthily but it’s hard sometimes when you have kids.  My kids always loved french fries, hamburgers, and pizza.

I agree with you that fried foods, sugar, alcohol, processed meats, and soda are bad for your gut.  If I could eat healthier every day, I would feel better and live longer.

Thank you for the great article!
