How do you make a healthy charcuterie board?

As I mentioned before, I decided to use gluten-free ingredients on my particular board. Also, lots of veggies and healthy ingredients will complete the ingredient list. However, feel free to make substitutions wherever you see fit! Below is how I made my Healthy Gluten Free Charcuterie Board.

  • Colombus Salami-reduced sodium (15 slices)
  • Marin French Breakfast Cheese
  • White Stilton Cheese with apricots
  • Blueberry Vanilla Chevre
  • Rainbow Carrots
  • Fresh Strawberries
  • Fresh Blueberries
  • Gluten Free Raisin Bread
  • Gluten Free Bagels
  • Sweet Potato 3 Seed Crackers
  • Cream Cheese
  • Butter

Ingredient notes for Gluten Free Charcuterie Board

Any crackers can be used such as rice crackers, almond flour crackers orΒ Nut Thins

Try different meats and cheeses such as these here at Murray’s Cheese.

Mix up the fruits and veggies, consider adding grapes, cucumbers, red peppers

Add jam if you want to offer a sweet topping

How To Make A Salami Rose for Charcuterie

  • Start with a glass and favorite salami
  • Let salami get room temperature
  • Fold each salami piece in half
  • Fold over side of glass around entire edge
  • Stack on top of each other
  • Repeat with 14-16 slices of salami
  • Use your hand to hold salami in place
  • Flip glass to lay salami rose down on board

Recipe Tips and Variations

I used many ingredients from Trader Joe’s but you can use any ingredients of your choice.Β  I highly recommend to let the salami get to room temperature then making the salami rose very last.Β  It’s best to practice beforehand so you know what to expect when making the salami rose.

How Do You Make a Cheap Charcuterie Board?

Overall, I was very happy with the way my board turned out!Β  Everyone has their own specific tastes and budgets. The great thing about these boards is that you can be as creative and selective with your ingredients as you’d like!

For cheaper options you might consider looking for fruits and vegetables that are currently in-season. Although I felt that strawberries and blueberries would add brightness to my board, you can substitute them for sliced apples or orange slices.Β  Just remember that apples turn brown very quickly.

One thing that I found to be a bit pricier when buying the ingredients for my platter were the meats and cheeses. Don’t let this scare you away from making your own board! Feel free to shop around for a price that works for you or take out the meat altogether. Some cheeses are also much pricier than others. Often times different types of cheddar or parmesan tend to be on the less expensive side.

In terms of crackers also, generic brand crackers can be a great substitute. Just be sure to check the nutrition facts to make sure that you’re getting the same value out of both! I hope this was helpful and I strongly encourage you to try making your own charcuterie board. I had so much fun making and eating it.

  1. I was wondering if including crackers or not. But I arrived at the conclusion that crackers still have a place on gluten-free charcuterie boards. Most would omit crackers, and there are so many excellent gluten-free options out there. But, I find my non-gluten-free friends appreciate still having a crunchy snack option. So thinking in them, I’ll include crackers!

  2. Having Celiac Disease, I am always on the lookout for great gluten-free recipes. I like charcuterie boards, but I tend to stay away from these types of recipes since they are rarely gluten-free. So, thank you for this gluten-free recipe. I liked the salami rose that you made. And watching your video, I was able to see just how easy it is to make and it looks so pretty and fancy as well.

    My girlfriend and my sister-in-law will absolutely love this article. They are gluten free, but the rest of the family aren’t. However, we do eat gluten free because they are the boss πŸ™‚

    The Charcuterie board looks like it will be a great Friday night thing for my girlfriend, and maybe even a Saturday night if we don’t go out (when lockdown allows us). It’s a snack but it is still healthy so that is what they ill love about it.

    Hi Alyse,

    This looks so yummy! My girlfriend and I are huge fans of charcuterie boards and used to make them frequently pre-pandemic when we had friends over.

    I can’t wait until we can get back to that!

    Our favorites are salami, prosciutto, brie, mozzarella, smoked gouda, almonds, cashews, grapes, fig jam and gluten free crackers as well! If I’m lucky, she’ll have made some homemade sourdough bread and we’ll have toasted slices with it too!
